.Character Appearance.
Eye Color – dark brown
Eternal Trait – eye color (yes, it is to her disadvantage that dark brown eyes look odd in a tabby cat)
Height – 5’3”
Weight – 112 lbs
Overall Appearance – short and slender, Autumn has a very feminine appearance. She looks like what we would describe as ‘asian’ with tan skin, and dark slanted eyes. Her long brown hair falls almost to her waist in her natural human form. With high cheek-bones, and a tiny nose and mouth, she’s not bad looking. But watch out – she does know how to take care of herself. Under her light-weight and loose gardening clothes, she carries a small hand gun and a knife.
She has a small tattoo of a sparrow perched on a branch on her left ankle – a reminder to herself of who she is, even though she can’t show it in public. On her left pinkie finger, she wears a small silver ring that once belonged to her mother. She wears a silver heart-shaped locket most of the time, as well as tiny earrings. Other than that, she doesn’t usually wear much jewelry – the exception being on fancy occasions where the point is to dress up nice.
Occasionally Autumn will get her long, brown hair dyed. Not the whole thing, just stripes of color running through it, most usually red, blue, or purple. Sure, she could do it on her own with her shifting abilities, but that’s not as under-the-radar as she prefers to be.
.Personal Character Information.
Personality – Autumn is, to be quite honest, a charmer. She’s got a smile and some conversation for almost anyone. For the most part, her non-shapeshifter neighbors think she’s sweet and kind – they’d never guess she was anything but human. She’s rather good at playing the part, obviously.
She laughs and jokes with people passing by – neighbors friends and strangers alike – and doesn’t mind company while she works. She rather enjoys it, actually. If she isn’t chatting with someone while working in the Garden, you’re likely to hear her quietly humming or singing to herself.
Or, at least, that’s the side of herself that she shows the world. True, that is Autumn, but so is the scared, barely-of-age girl who’s trying her hardest to survive in a world that took her mother from her and hunts her people down like animals. She’s cautious and guarded about what she lets slip and to who. She has a cover-up story for her past and family – obviously – but if you start asking and prying, she’ll smile, laugh, and change the subject.
She’s had the necessity for caution and wariness preached to her time and time again by her mother, and is careful not to jeopardize her appearance as ‘human’. In the daylight hours, she shifts only if absolutely necessary. At night, she’ll shift in the safety of her apartment, behind locked doors.
History – Born in the early stages of Project Colonization, Autumn can’t remember a time before humans. But she can remember a time before this. A time when humans were trusted. Her father had trusted them. When Autumn was little, and the humans came, her father believed that they had, indeed, ‘come in peace’. Her mother had not. She’d taken Autumn and left – positive that her husband would bring death to them all if they’d stayed. She and her little child slipped into hiding and blended, pretending to be human.
Since then, it’s been pretty touch-and-go for Autumn Troi. She’s been raised to practice her gift so that she’s good at it, but to be careful enough that no one guesses what she is. Who she is.
When she was seventeen, things started to getting…weird. Weirder than usual, that is. Autumn’s mother wouldn’t allow her out of the house when it wasn’t necessary, urging her to stay inside, and keep the doors and windows locked. Keep the blinds drawn at all times. Don’t go near the windows. Don’t answer the door. Don’t talk to anybody. Hurry home if you absolutely have to go out. Be aware.
There was something that her mother wasn’t telling her, but Autumn didn’t push it. She just followed her mother’s warning, doing everything that she said. And then, one night, her mother didn’t come home. Autumn waited for one day, then two, three, four. Four days before she learned from a family friend that her mother had been captured by the SEG and was being held in their vile labs.
After that, she didn’t have a choice. She ran. She hated herself for leaving her mother without even finding out if she was dead or alive, but she knew that it was only a matter of time before they connected the two shifters and came for her as well. She fled to Keis, with the hope of being able to blend again and start over in the busy city.
After some waitressing exploits that didn’t quite work out (due to her loathing of being inside for hours at a time), Autumn got a job she liked and excelled at – gardening. And here she is.
.RP Example.
From a different site, for a different character. Hope that’s okay.
Closing her eyes, Kira Kasper leaned over and rested her forehead against the ship's rail, drawing in deep breaths of the salty air. Not that it did any good at all - if anything, it just made her feel even more sick. Her black hair fell in a curtain around her face, shielding her from the questioning glances she was sure she was getting from the ship's night-crew. After all, it wasn't every day at four in the morning a raven-haired girl with something not-quite-right about her was seen trying not to throw up into the ocean.
Her past...well, week, pretty much, had been miserable. Davion had come back in her head, and wouldn't leave her alone. She'd be trying to get some sleep, or trying to forget about him and his darkness, or trying to just live, and out of nowhere – Hello, Princess or Hey, Psycho - he'd be there. She knew that somehow she had to get away, and her magic didn't seem to have a problem with her and James catching a ship out of there - although she was sure that it would bring her back later, as she was positive she hadn't done whatever she was supposed to do on the Islands.
But being on the ship hadn't helped anything. He still talked in her head - but she was fairly sure she'd been okay at hiding it - and now she had to deal with her sea-sickness on top of it.
She knew that she looked awful. She hadn't gotten more than an hour-and-a-half of sleep a night since Davion came back. She had shadows under her eyes and the ocean had managed to drain almost every last bit of color out of her face. Being on deck and actually seeing the vast expanse of rolling waves was not helping any - but she needed air. Down below was too stuffy, she couldn't breathe.
Not wanting to have had something in her stomach to actually throw up, she hadn't eaten anything in over a day, and she was starving. Not to mention freezing - it was late January, and she hadn't thought to grab her jacket before coming up - she just needed air. And she sure as hell was not going back below deck to get it now.
