.Character Appearance.
Eye Color -- The right is a silvery blue and the left the same, but clouded over and blind.
Height -- 4'11.
Weight -- 110.
Overall Appearance -- Taiven is very short, but curvy -- she has a definite hourglass shape to her, and she's obviously not an athlete; she looks very "soft" and welcoming, in that respect. She has very pale smooth skin that gleams slightly in sunlight. Her hair reaches her waist, and is textured with different types of curls and waves. In coloring, her hair is also quite odd. It's a dark ash blonde color at the roots, and fades to almost white at the tips -- obviously growing out darker as she ages. It's beautiful, if it is unusual. The face her hair frames is round, her lips are thin, and her nose is long and slightly turned up, but her eyes make her quite pretty. They are very large and are both very silvery and mysterious, despite the fact that her left is clouded over. In fact, her obvious blindness in one eye makes her look even more mysterious and enigmatic, hinting at her disease-ridden past. What's not seen is the fact that her left ear is also severely crippled, but you can tell by the way she avoids being approached on her left side.
Her looks make her seem unapproachable; though she is a kind person, she tends to have a very "far away" look in her eyes and comes across as someone who doesn't want to be bothered. That may be all for the better, however -- she is quiet and doesn't enjoy speaking socially like most people do.
Her attire is simple -- flowing garments of soft material, typically. She doesn't like wearing shoes, but when she goes out she wears flip-flops. She's got a tattoo -- one pale blue stripe that swirls from her temple to underneath her blind eye that she got after it became sightless to improve it. It was a tradition in her family to encircle wounded areas with tattoos, with hopes that the gods would help them heal. Taiven never believed in things like that, so the reason she agreed to get it was to not cause a stir and simply to follow along with tradition. Her right ear is pierced 6 times -- 3 tiny white stars in her lobe, a pale blue tragus, and a diamond stud and a small silver hoop in her cartilage. Her piercings are also part of her troupe's tradition, but has no religious significance behind it.
.Personal Character Information.
Personality -- Taiven is a very peaceful, calm sort of person. She is rarely angry, but she is also rarely excited or sad. Even though her emotions are apathetic at best, her mind is wondrous and very whimsical. She is very creative and imaginative, creating plots and characters for stories in her head constantly. This helps her be a fantastic storyteller, and the stories she loves so much herself strengthens the power of her storytelling by example.
She is a very gentle, kind person. She likes to help others, especially animals -- she feels an undeniable attachment to them, and they seem to feel the same way about her. She can't bear to see another person or animal in pain, especially at the expense of another. Even though she is shy, she tries to resolve conflicts as well as she can. It's not that she feels sad and wants to make others feel better as well as herself -- it's that her mind knows that the good thing to do is to help, and that she is a good person.
She likes being with nature, enjoying the simple feelings of her feet in cold, moving water or a breeze making her hair flutter in the wind. She wakes up to see the blissful colors of dawn before settling back to sleep for a few more hours, if that is any hint to her attachment to the outdoors. Another thing she greatly enjoys is music. She isn't naturally spectacular at singing, but she practices so much she is quite a cut above average. She also likes playing her violin -- she doesn't adore it as much as singing, but it still falls under the category of things she loves to do.
One thing that mauls her, though, is the fact that she hallucinates. That is the way she copes with losing all but one of her troupe to the dreadful disease that took part of her senses. She doesn't feel depressed, she just pretends that they're right beside her and that manifests itself into visions of them. Being a rational person, she understands that they aren't really real, but she can't allow herself to believe in her heart that they aren't. If she did, she knows that she will fall into depression and she doesn't want that. She refuses to get help from doctors, so she makes sure not to speak out loud to her "friends" when they visit her in public.
History -- Taiven was born into a troupe -- a family of traveling actors, of sorts. They traveled all across the planet, preforming in different cities every few days. They were relatively popular, but the fact remains that they all lived in vans on the road and that there was never a down season for them. Along with the fact that they were poor, they were a very superstitious and religious troupe. The religion they practiced was strange, it being a mixture of many religions and parts they just invented themselves. Taiven pretty much just blocked out their worship, never believing in things like that but respecting their beliefs all the same. She never argued with them -- it was not in her nature to do so -- but sometimes she felt that they were all being ignorant to their surroundings.
Her mother and father were pretty much the "leaders" of the group of about 25 or so actors and actresses. Taiven was treated very well among the troupe. Their relationship was a bit out-of-sync because she didn't agree with most of the things they said since they were polar opposites, but they all loved each other. She wasn't the best actress by far, but she was excellent at coming up with original plays. The only thing she had in common with them aside from acting was her fascination with shapeshifters and open-mindedness to them, spurring from the fact that around 6 of the members of her troupe were openly original inhabitants of Cambria. The troupe protected them from the SEG as a family, having a few run-ins with them but never getting caught.
At 12, everything changed for Taiven. She was the first person to catch a dreadful disease called "Inleein", which makes a person have an extraordinarily high fever, cough up blood, and bleed from openings in the body because of a virus only carried by shifters, who were immune to it. They took her to the doctors immediately, not knowing what the disease was. The doctors recognized the signs easily, and even though the rest of the troupe tried desperately to prevent it, the SEG came and took the shifters away while Taiven was lying unconscious in her hospital bed undergoing treatment. Unfortunately, every other person in the troupe caught the disease. Treating them was more difficult, since most were older than Taiven and not as strong. They ended up stopping the infection enough so that it only affected her left side, but they could not save anyone else except one -- unexpectedly, an old woman named Claudean. The two drastically different women were both left with an overbearing fear of fire, since all they remembered while unconscious was the unbearable heat of the fever.
They left to Keis together and lived in a small apartment until Claudean finally died of old age when she was 15. Taiven has frequent hallucinations of her, and will often "guide" her into doing things and give her advice.
