Full Name --Meribeth Catherwood
Nickname --Beth, Bethy, sometimes Mary
Gender --female
Age --22
Job --nurse

.Character Appearance.
Eye Color --green
Height --5’7”
Weight --117 lbs
Overall Appearance -- Meribeth stands a good five feet, seven inches tall with long legs and a body that is just barely curvy but more on the athletic side. She is quite strong for a young woman, having had to lift bodies nearly twice her weight while on the job as a nurse, but her muscles aren't really well defined. More toned than anything. She keeps her body in shape more from eating right than from really exercising.
With an oval-shaped face with dominant cheekbones and strong jaw, Beth's complexion is clear, if a bit dry. She has plenty of good creams and makeup to help or hide that. She does love makeup and has a stand nearly as big as a rolling toolbox for her foundations, eye shadows, pencils, and lipsticks.
Beth's hair is long, falling in loose, dark brown curls to almost mid-back. She has perfected her hair styling and wears it in anything from a chignon to a loose braid, tight pony to simply letting it fall where it may. The color makes a striking contrast to her pale skin, which in turn also makes her large green eyes shine out as her best feature. Lips somewhere between plump and thin complete her look, the bottom lip being a bit fuller than the top. Even without make up, her lips appear to have been stained by fresh red berries, perhaps because she's always chewing on them.
.Personal Character Information.
Personality -- Beth is usually a bit child-like in the way she looks on the world, meaning she awakes each morning as if there was something new for her to discover and explore. She enjoys simple pleasures like picking flowers, playing with a neighbor's dog and getting so into a movie, she nearly forgets it's not real. Every day has her finding something exciting to share, even if it comes from her vivid imagination.
Beth is not normally jilted by the things people say about her. Of course, she'll confront those who might start rumors about her if they are serious enough, but she does it in a way that helps her keep the peace between potential enemies. Instead of getting mad, she tells them, jokingly, about some other embarrassing moment that she doesn't mind having spread around, thus letting everyone know she is still human, but also giving her some control of what others say about her.
Like most, when it comes to those closest to her (friends and family), Beth can be seriously affected by their words and actions toward her. These are the people who know her best and should, she thinks, be able to help her decide what is best for her. If ever they say anything hurtful, she tends to believe that it really is how they see her, even if the hurt was unintentional. She'll mention to them that what they said wasn't nice, but doesn't easily forget their words.
History --
After sixteen years of marriage and no kids to show for it, Marie and Joseph Catherwood, doctor and scientist respectively, found it an easy decision to join the crew of the Goliath. They went about their life as happy as they could be after coming to terms with the fact that they might never have a little one of their own. They never would have imagined that Marie, at the age of 48, could finally have the son or daughter they had always wanted. Despite the concerns that come with having a baby when one is nearly 50, Marie and Joseph were so excited, they would be up to any challenge the baby might bring with it. Fortunately, they didn’t need to worry. Meribeth was born in the ship’s infirmary 14 years into its voyage. She was healthy as any baby could.
At nine years old, just when she was starting to think that the ship would be her permanent home, Meribeth was ecstatic to get her first glimpse of Cambria. She had never seen such a thing except in picture books and had billions of questions to ask anyone who would listen. Though her parents and other crew of Goliath answered as many questions as they could, Meribeth wanted to know more. After the ship had landed, she tried to be the first person off the ship. There was no way she was going to waste time in that stinking hunk of metal for one more moment when she could experience the delights of oceans, feel the wind on her face, the sun’s warmth on her body, climb the many trees, and get completely dirty playing in the soil and mud. Meribeth had an easy time making friends with some of the natives. They were eager to show her the wonders of their world and she was more than willing to follow them and ask every possible question she could about the things she saw. This, of course, led to much heartbreak later on.
The war started when Meribeth was 16. She felt helpless through most of those years. She wasn’t old enough to fight and, quite frankly, didn’t want to. Her friends, even those who couldn’t fight, made a big deal about needing to stay loyal to their people. Friendships, with both humans and Cambrians, grew apart. Some simply just stopped being friends while others couldn’t leave without harsh words. Meribeth also lost friends who had fought in the war, one or two felled by hands that had once been pals. Hearing these stories, Meribeth resolved not to take a bath that would require that she kill another. Instead, she became a nurse so she might save lives instead. Though life goes on as if the war hadn’t happened, much of it is still fresh in Meribeth’s memory. Though she feels bad that humans have taken over the planet, a part of her knows it wouldn’t have happened if the shapeshifters hadn’t suddenly decided they did NOT want humans on their planet anymore. They really should have thought about it before letting the humans land on their planet.
.RP Example.Evie found herself wanting to smile at Jon's comment. It was hard to do so, but she was able to keep anything more than her usual scowl from showing on her face. Still, the corners of her lips twitched a moment. Had Raye not been with this group, Jon would be Evie's top choice for those lonely nights. It would be a dangerous game trying to seduce him, but since when had Evie ever played it safe? His scars were far from distracting from his looks. Instead, they enhanced them somehow. Evie couldn't put her finger on the reason why because she had never been attracted to someone because of their looks. There was always something else...intelligence, personality, or perhaps simply the danger such an explosive encounter with certain people brought a thrill to her.
Turning to the large room, Evie noted the crowd gathering. Some had smirks on their faces, as if they were anticipating her failure; perhaps they were even trading bets under the table. Others where here simply for the show and others, the few who had already had run-ins with the woman, didn't seem to know which way to go. Evie didn't care. It didn't matter if anyone rooted for her or not. She was already worked up enough to be at her best.
Evie seemed to be keeping her eyes on the blade now laying in the middle of the floor, though she was also still watching Jon, noting the way he moved slowly to the music box and back. It could be an act, though. Evie had fought men much larger than Jon, but certainly not smarter. She wouldn't put it past the man to attempt trickery, making her think he was an idiot. Evie knew Raye, though. She knew that woman wouldn't put a bumbler in Jon's place.
Pulling her holster off, Evie set it on the pharmacists counter, giving the eye to anyone who might touch it. By then, Jon was back beside her and Evie returned to focus on the bout.
When the music stopped, there was a split-second delay before Evie's brain recognized it. One might not have noticed it, though. The moment she realized the silence, Evie pushed off on her left foot, running at top speed toward her goal. Not wanting to take any chances in letting Jon get the upper hand, as she approached the knife Evie went down into a hook slide, right leg tucked under her left, as if she were heading home before the tag out came. As she moved past the knife, Evie's body twisted gracefully to the right, her left hand slapping down on the ground. She felt the cutter in her palm and curled her fingers over it as her momentum came to a halt. Her leg was red and burning from its encounter with the floor, but that was part of the cost of this crazy game. Evie had more things to worry about than a friction burn and she was already moving to get herself off the floor, ready to strike.
